Yes. NETGATE Internet Security includes a firewall. The NETGATE FortKnox Firewall can protect a PC from threats such as viruses, Trojans, and spyware. This provides front line defense for your PC, and can even protect your identity from being stolen.
FortKnox Firewall is included with the free trial version of NETGATE Internet Security.

Does NETGATE Internet Security Have a Trial Version?
Yes. NETGATE Internet Security has a trial version that you can immediately use to detect threats on your system.
To get the trial version, simply go to the NETGATE website https://www.netgate.sk. You will see the download link on the upper left side of the main page. Click this link.
The download file is called “is-setup.exe” and will appear in the bottom left of your screen in Windows. Clicking this will start the setup process.
A window will then appear asking you to allow the program to make changes to your device. Click “Yes”.
Most features of the full version of NETGATE Internet Security are included with the trial version. These include:

Can NETGATE Internet Security Protect Against Hackers?

Does NETGATE Internet Security Work With Firefox?
NETGATE Internet Security is designed to work with many popular web browsers, including Firefox. Browsers supported by NETGATE Internet Security include:

- Chrome (NETGATE does not specifically claim to work with Chrome, but negative issues have not been reported)
How Often is NETGATE Internet Security Updated?
NETGATE Internet Security has regular updates to help keep your system protected. Updates can be automated (requires full version) or manual.
The frequency of automatic updates to NETGATE Internet Security will depend on the updates to the main NETGATE threat database. The NETGATE team keeps their database updated on a daily basis as new threats arise.
An alternative is to use manual updates, which is very easy to do.

For Spy Emergency, you can use the Status page from the left side menu of the main window and click “Update Now”. However, to use this feature you must purchase the full version.

The FortKnox Firewall component has a manual update feature in the Options menu item on the left side menu of the main window. There is also the option to choose automatic threat signatures updates or not. To use this feature you must have the full version.
It is recommended to have both NETGATE Security components set to automatic updates.
How Long Does NETGATE Internet Security Take to Scan?
We ran a full scan on our test PC and got these results:
- A Full scan, which includes all memory and files on the system took 1 hour and 34 minutes.
- A System scan took 1 hour and 2 minutes.
- A Quick scan took 2 minutes and 34 seconds.
- A Custom scan that scanned only the documents folder took 2 minutes and 24 seconds.
Does NETGATE Internet Security Run at Startup?
Yes. NETGATE Internet Security is configured to run at startup. You can access and adjust these settings as follows:
Spy Emergency
The Spy Emergency component of NETGATE Internet Security has the option of running at Windows startup. This can be found in the left side menu in the main program window.
The Options window has a Startup section at the bottom. The checkbox to run Spy Emergency at Windows startup is checked by default. De-select this if you do not want it to run at startup. Click Apply to save any changes.
FortKnox Firewall
Similar to Spy Emergency, the left side menu of FortKnox Firewall has a button for Options. In the Startup section of the Options window, the default is set to automatically load firewall at Windows startup. If you decide you do not want to run this component at startup, then un-select this and click “Apply”.
How to Install NETGATE Internet Security
NETGATE Internet Security consists of 2 components:
- FortKnox Firewall
- Spy Emergency

To start the installation, you first need to download the setup file. This should appear on the lower left of your Windows screen. Click the file and open it. It will ask if you want to allow the app to make changes to your device. Click Yes.

Select the Setup Language and click OK.
Accept the License Agreement and click Next.

Choose the Destination Folder location. Click Next.
Select the Start Menu Folder and click Next.
Select Additional Tasks. Choose if you want to create icons for your desktop including a Quick launch icon.

On the next window, click Install.

The installation should begin. This could take anywhere from 1-5 minutes.
The next window will say to restart your system to complete the installation. If you want to do so, then keep the default to Yes. Click Finish. This will restart your computer.

Upon restarting your computer, the FortKnox Firewall main window screen will appear. When the installation is complete, icons for both of these programs should appear on your desktop.
Does NETGATE Internet Security Have Technical Support?
Yes. NETGATE Internet Security has 24/7 technical support available.
How to access NETGATE Technical Support:
In FortKnox Firewall, click on the “Support” button on the left-hand side menu.
The Spy Emergency component also has a “Support” button on the left-hand menu.
You need to provide your email and problem description. The attachment file is optional.
For Spy Emergency, you can also run the Analyzer Tool for unknown threats and submit the Log File to the Internet Security support team. They can add it to their database and craft a solution for you.
